Conference Scope

The First International Conference on the Physiology and Acoustics of Singing  provided a forum, devoted entirely to the singing voice at a high level of expertise. Limiting the scope of the conference to the singing voice did distinguish it from the larger, more general meetings on voice, while the emphasis on physiology and acoustics did set it apart from the typical gatherings of teachers of singing. A further distinction was the encouragement of frank discussion, elucidating real differences in conflicting views, rather than simply stating subjective opinions.
